J & S Scales, Inc.
J & S Scale Company was started in the fall of 1958 by Dennis T. Johnson and Robert D. Schrock. The joining of education, experience, and talent of both men in construction, engineering, marketing, and design, built a partnership that lasted for 38 years. In the beginning, it was mainly a service and construction organization, but soon developed into a relationship with several nationally known scale manufactures in which J & S Scale manufactured products for these companies for sale in the central part of the U.S. Complete sales, construction, fabrication, and service of scales, including truck scales and other vehicle scales, were developed. The sales and service part of the company grew into offices in Hutchinson, Kansas City, Dodge City, and Oklahoma City. In the 1970s, the company ceased manufacturing for outside companies and started to design and fabricate their own products.
This has turned into a complete line of products for vehicle, livestock, and bulk weighing products, including truck scales and other vehicle scales. The company continued to grow in size and profitability into the 1990s. In 1993, the sales, service, and construction part of the company was sold and J & S turned all attention to manufacturing the products it had developed, including truck scales and other vehicle scales. In 1997, a rotary flow gate was designed and patented by J & S Scale Company which enabled the development of a compact automatic bulk weighing scale.
In 2011, J & S Scales, Inc. moved operations from Hutchinson to Sabetha, Kansas. The tradition of high quality, accurate and dependable weighing products continues…..
